1990 Mazda MX-5 - FIRST DRIVE
Car & Driver first test drove the "new" Mazda Miata (MX-5) in September 1989. The article tag line read;
The return of the honest sports car.
In fact, the article states in the first paragraph;
...if the new Mazda MX-5 Miata were any more talented and tempting, buying one would be illegal.
and as we all know, the rest is history. BTW, notice how the article refers to the "MX-5 Miata"!
